"This work sets a vivid, extended poem by Jones Very (1813–1880), a mystical figure associated with the American Transcendentalism movement. It is set as an 11 minute cantata for choir, with four solos (SATB), and a prominent organ part. The work conceptually resembles Benjamin Britten's Rejoice in the Lamb and is thus likewise useful in either concert or service settings."
