Four short pieces in loving memory of the composer's ear training teacher at Juilliard, Renée Longy. Though the composer himself thought of the pieces as atonal, Leonard Bernstein once said that "these are in D minor, and you're a hopeless romantic." Composed in 1979, these pieces are still poignant today.
