The Julius Hemphill Archive has an early composition notebook in which were found pages of improvisational patterns, moving through all twelve keys. These are equally figures for instrumental skill and improvisational/compositional motives for creative use. They have been put in the three main keys of jazz instrumentation and can easily be adapted for diverse instruments.
