Details:

A chamber work for baritone singer and horn trio (horn, violin, and piano). It sets the closing paragraphs of “Il Cantico del Gallo Silvestre,” (Canticle of the Sylvan Rooster) by Giacomo Leopardi (1798-1837).

Here Leopardi outlines a cosmic vision of a post-human world “Time will come when this universe, and nature herself, will have died out” and caps it with a vision of naked silence “a naked silence and a towering quiet will fill the immensity of space.”
