The 17 collections in the Vocal series encompass the extensive and immensely varied repertoire of music for solo voice from the 18th, 19th and early 20th centuries, including German lieder, French art songs, early Italian songs and arias, standard opera arias, and sacred works for solo and ensembles. Arranged by voice type or genre, each collection includes hundreds of songs and arias, as well as helpful indexes for searching by title, first line, or poet (lieder only). For added reference, each collection also includes composer biographies and relevant articles from the 1911 edition of Grove’s Dictionary of Music and Musicians. Individual works included in each collection have been selected from editions in the public domain by such renowned publishers as Breitkopf & Härtel, C.F. Peters, G. Schirmer, Carl Fischer, G. Ricordi, Durand, and others. Our editorial staff has chosen the best edition available for each work.
